Bright rustic red hair flashed in the cool winds that lashed and struck like a whip through the ruined building. The vines clung to the moist, moldy walls. A small chuff echoed through the huge abandoned orphanage. It was Amber. Standing tall and brave, her oddly colored aqua marine eyes filled with melancholy. She was looking half-hearted at the vines. Attached to them were the buds of beautiful orange flowers, like miniature suns just waiting to burst with light. Funny to see such mystical beauty in such dark and dreary times. Suns...... So bright, yet so fierce... Amber thought, gazing back into older memories. Just like mum.... Amber turned away, walking down the main corridor. And as she went, among her pale, sharp features, a single tear made it's way slowly down her cheek.

Allison Emily Jasper What doesn't kill me--makes me stronger.
Talking - Thinking
An adventure to get away from the base in which Allison was calling home. She stumbled upon the orphanage before but never took the time to explore because she was always trying to get away from someone or something for that matter. Slowly she walked through the grass which had not ceased to grow since the apocalypse started. Lightly she chucked and shook her head. To the small insects that live amongst the foliage's roots, it all must look like some crazy jungle. As she got closer to the entrance of the abandoned building she pulled a knife from a protective case connected to her belt. Never could be to careful with all the crazy people who also managed to survive for this long.
Alli let air pass over her lips as she blew her side bangs away from her left eye. Despite how much she loved her dark brown hair and the side part, she needed to see her surroundings through both eyes. Frustrated, she took her free hand and tucked the strands behind her ear before continuing her adventure. The walls, just like everything else in Minneapolis seemed to be covered in vines. Curiosity got the better of the teenager and carelessly she followed the foliage path around the place. Her brown eyes flickered from one corner to another before she felt herself relax.
This place isn't even close to being dangerous. So not seeing any more point to hold her fathers knife she returned it back to its protect casing before tucking her hands in her pockets. Then she noticed the wonderful orange flowers that seemed to be growing from the vines. They were gorgeous-- better yet, down right amazing. Without even thinking about what possible toxins or harm they could cause, Alli reached out with a smooth hand to touch the elaborate colored petals.
The faint outline of a shadow stretching along the wall caught her eye even if it was just from the corner of her eye. Startled the brunette snapped her head to where she saw the shape but it was gone. She could feel her heart racing against her chest. Nothing was there even though she swore she was a shadow. "Hello. Is anybody there?" she called out in a rather weak, fearful voice. Right now she wanted to swear under her breath at how much of a coward she sounded like but prevented her temper from breaking in such a manor.

Amber Michelle James Just because I'm somewhat happy, doesn't mean I don't have a story..... Acting - Listening Wiping the tear quickly from her cheek, the bright redhead whipped around, the soft, scared voice echoing through to her ears. Reaching behind her cautiously, Amber pulled her dual blades from their sheathes, holding them at the ready. This newbie sounded innocent, but so did crazy people. Using her stealth skills, Amber crept without a sound back toward the entrance room that used to be a receptionist desk. Taking a deep breath, the fifteen year old stepped back into the room, her eyes wide and her blades ready to strike. But her strangely colored aqua marine-ish eyes filled with relief at the sight of a healthy looking older teenage girl who looked as scared as she. Lowering her dual blades, she looked up at the girls face, and then down at her swords again. Letting out a half-hearted, embarrassed chuckle, she put her blades back in her sheathes and let out a puff of air to get her red bangs out of her face. "Ummmm, well, hi!" Amber laughed, clasping her hands nervously behind her back. "Yah, um, sorry for the blades... Thats kind of a sucky way to meet someone. But if you've been living the way I have, you'll understand when I say that not everyone is right in the mind anymore..." Amber's attention suddenly blew off-kilter. Back to the orange flowers again. The bright, orange flowers, thriving in their own beauty. Amber stopped herself and looked away. She couldn't afford to have bi-polar issues NOW. Then this girl would really think she was weird. ``Word Count: 291 ``Comments: Really, REALLY small. -.- xD

Allison Emily Jasper What doesn't kill me--makes me stronger.
Talking - Thinking
The sound of feet moving across the floor which confirmed to Allison that someone, or something, was in this orphanage. At least she knew she wasn't seeing things or even on the verge of going crazy. Although she could feel her heart racing and each breath of air getting caught in her throat. Fear grappled with her emotions and her stomach seemed to twist into knots. Every single survival information she knew just left her mind leaving her completely still, almost glued to the spot completely. Then her dark brown eyes caught sight of the figure who recently casted a shadow on a wall. A red-head, a very tall one actually and she help two swords in rather strong looking hands.
Alli thought she was going to be sick but she remained still. Though sound of Amber's half-hearted chuckle and she chimed in still afraid of the swords attacked to the girls back. "Hi..." she replied timidly. Then she listened as the younger teenager and completely could agree with her. "Yeah, sadly there seem to be a lot of those people still."
With a rather lazy head movement, Alli followed the teenager's gaze just with curiosity. Apparently both of them had some sort of emotion towards the orange petaled flowers. It wasn't shocking though because the flowers were so vibrant in color compared to the rest of the wall. Cautiously she tucked her hands in the pockets of her jeans because she didn't know where else to stick them, plus this prevent her from popping her knuckles which could easily be determined as a threat. Despite what she wanted Allison pulled her brown gaze away from the pop of color to look back at the rustic red head. "My name is Allison. Umm..." She started talking in hopes of getting a conversation going, "The flowers are beautiful. Do you know anything about them?"

"Only that they remind me of my mother...." Amber replied quietly, wrenching her gaze from the exotic flowers. "Well, Allison is a name I have yet to hear since the apocolypse started. I like that name." Amber smiled. This girl seemed nice, unlike the 'Go shove it up your ass' guy from the bridge. "I'm glad to see some nice people still exsist here. I haven't exactly been having the grandest time with some of the people here" she muttered. Looking up at Allison with aqua marine eyes, Amber smiled lightly. "Enough of my worthless babbling!" Amber laughed, her british accent sounding light and friendly.
Amber had never met someone like this before. She seemed quiet and reserved, yet smart and brave. There was a hardness in Allisons eyes that she had only seen in one person before. Her dead boyfriend, Jake. Blinking, she again enticed herself back to reality. "So what about you? I've never seen you 'round here before. Is this place special to you or something?" the tall red head asked, her head tipping to the side a little.
